Eastern view of the summit cone, Mount Washington  [ info ]
A few passing clouds add depth to this stark image of the summit of Mount Washington, taken from the east. The East Snowfields, sometimes a landmark on this slope, are only beginning to form. The shapes of Mounts Clay and Jefferson suggest themselves; the lowlands near Jefferson Meadows offer a patchwork background of snow-covered field and dark forest.
